Judges' appointment: Aitzaz named as member parliamentary committee

Senator Aitzaz Ahsan was nominated on Wednesday as member of the Parliamentary Committee for appointment of superior courts' judges. After being named as member of the committee, the eminent jurist has emerged as a leading candidate for the chairmanship of the committee, as Senator Nayar Hussain Bukhari was elected Chairman Senate.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani appointed Senator Aitzaz Ahsan as member of the Parliamentary Committee for appointment of judges through a notification here. Ahsan had played leading role in the movement for restoration of judiciary. At present Ahsan is representing Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in a contempt of court case against him in the apex court.
