Lahore Association of Businessmen for Rehabilitation of Disabled (Labard) has distributed 70 tricycles among the disabled persons at an impressive ceremony on Tuesday. The tricycles were donated to the Labard from the Turkish International Co-operation and Co-ordination Agency. Members of Turkish team including Programme Co-ordinator Islamabad Elif Turkislamoglu, Vice President TIKA Ankara Surriye Polat and Labard Governing Body members were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Labard office-bearers said that developed countries were giving special attention to the disabled persons. Not only buildings have special ramps but also facilities were being provided at all public places. They said disabled persons in Pakistan were facing many difficulties due to lack of proper attention, adding the government should divert his attention towards the issue and ensure proper facilities at all building and public places.
The Labard has also arranged jobs for these disabled persons with an objective to give them courage. Labard Joint Secretary Mohammad Saeed Khan said that rehabilitation of disabled persons was a sacred job and everybody should come forward to play his role. They said Labard was getting a very good response from the registration camps it was holding at Union council level.
In the developed world, the disabled persons are always given a special treatment, they are provided with every possible facility so that they could use their abilities for the well-being of society and now the situation in Pakistan was also taking a positive turn and a large number of disabled persons are running their own businesses with the help of Labard.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher and Vice President Saeeda Nazar paid rich tributes to Labard office-bearers for spending their time and energies for this noble cause.
