Need for setting up more BISP disbursement counters underscored

More counters for disbursement of monthly grant to deserving women under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) should be opened in all districts of Hyderabad division so that they could draw their allocated monthly grant without any delay.
Commissioner Hyderabad division Ahmed Bux Narejo emphasised this while addressing the officers of BISP and Waseela-e-Haq Programme at a briefing here at his office on Friday evening. The Commissioner said the government was fully committed to uprooting poverty and improve the living standard of the poor people. "In this regard, series of welfare projects have been launched in the country particularly the financial assistance to deserving women under BISP," he added.
The BISP Director Hyderabad division Abdul Majeed Soomro informed that BISP forms were distributed among 60 million women of the country through Members National Assembly, of whom seven million deserving women had been registered and they were getting financial assistance of Rs 1,000 under BISP every month.
Besides, he informed that beneficiaries were also being selected among those seven million registered women through balloting from grant of interest free loan of Rs 03 million each which returned to the government in 15 years time through easy instalments.
The balloting of selected deserving women for grant of loan was being carried out on monthly basis under the supervision of President Asif Ali Zardari, he informed. Similarly, he informed that the sons and daughters of those seven million registered women were also being selected for three-month long training of different job-oriented fields and during the training, they were getting Rs 6,000 monthly stipend. Besides, life insurance of the family heads of those registered women had also been made so that in case of the death of family heads, those registered women could get insurance grant of Rs 0.1 million each, he added.
Under Waseela-e-Haq programme, Abdul Majeed Soomro informed that 35,000 beneficiaries had been selected through balloting in the first phase, of them 550 beneficiaries from Hyderabad district, 321 from Badin district, 173 from Jamshoro district, 184 from Tando Allahyar district, 163 from Tando Muhammad Khan district, 293 from Thatta district and 216 from Matiari district.
In the first phase, he informed that 210 beneficiaries had received seven days training, while the second and third phase of the training would also be started soon. After completion of training, he informed that those beneficiaries would get interest free loan of Rs 0.3 million each which would be payable to the government within the period of six years. The candidates having education upto matriculation with age between 16 to 30 years were eligible to get benefit from this programme, he informed. Besides other officers concerned, Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Asif Ali Memon also attended the meeting.
