As many as nine incidents of robbery and five cases of car lifting were reported in the city's various police stations during the week but there were no arrests. In the last seven days nine cases of robberies including purse snatching incidents were reported to different police stations including Bara Kahu, Shahzad Town, Ramana, Margalla, Aabpara, Sabzi Mandi, and Kohsar police stations and citizens were deprived of millions of rupees.
During the week past, Bara Kahu police registered three cases of robberies, Shehzad Town police registered one case of kidnapping, Ramana police registered one case of robbery and car lifting each. Similarly, a case of murder, car lifting and robbery were also reported to Sabzi Mandi Police Station during the week.
Margalla police registered two cases of car lifting and a case of robbery during the week. Abpara police registered one case of car lifting and robbery each while one case of robbery was also registered with Kohsar police during the week. A police official said that the main reasons behind the rising incidents of murder, car lifting, robbery and other crimes were poor planning, ineffective patrolling and more concentration of police on special duties. The major part of capital police is busy in special duties mostly on the protocols of VVIPs and, therefore, can not concentrate on providing protection to citizens, he added.
