Traders observe Black Day: industrial activities come to a halt
Industrial activities in the city came to a complete halt on Saturday due to strike call of trader to observe Black Day against extortionism. Chairman North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI), Abdul Rasheed Fodderwala said that all industrial units in this industrial estate remained closed. Traders and general pubic were fed up with increasing incidents like extortion and kidnapping for ransom, he added.
He said that the majority of workers could not reach their workplace while workers who love nearby areas were present. Former vice chairman, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Javaid Qureshi also said that industrial units in this industrial estate remained closed. He said the movement of export, import cargo's through large vehicles was also hit adversely.
The closure of CNG stations in the city for 24 hours on Saturday from 9am under gas load management plan beside closure of petrol pumps on Saturday forced people to stay at home. Almost all industries in the SITE industrial zone remained closed on Saturday due to strike.
