A week-long Mini Olympics for 2012 under the auspices of University of Engineering & Technology Peshawar Mardan Campus concluded here on Thursday. The varsity Vice Chancellor, Imtiaz Hussain Gilani was chief guest at closing ceremony of the sports event. He distributed awards and prices amongst wining teams from Computer Software and Telecommunication Engineering Departments of Mardan Campus.
According to results, the Department of Telecommunications Engineering won in cricket, volley ball and badminton while Computer Software Engineering Department won the football, basketball finals and lawn tennis, collectively. The students also played 100 and 400 meter race, chess and carom games and won different prices, all together.
Imtiaz Gilani while addressing the enthralling crowd, said sports is an important part of student life and brings out exceptional qualities of character and physical capabilities besides intense engineering programs. "Mardan Campus is a role model in every way and the today's event enhanced the leadership qualities of students through demonstration of discipline and sportsman spirit", he added. The event was comprised of a number of sporting events which lasted from March 6 to 13, 2012.
