Snap checking at different city points ordered: funeral prayers of two cops offered
Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Sindh Police Akhtar Gohrchani on Wednesday directed to ensure surprise snap checking at different vicinities to clamp down criminal activities in the metropolis.
Speaking after the funeral prayers of two cops; ASI Raja Moin and PC Ayub, who were martyred in separate drive-by shootings on late Tuesday, he said although the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) was established in the city, there was lot more to be done to root out the said menace from the city. He said the police department had been directed to ensure strict vigilance almost every part of the city to scale down criminal activities and maintain peace in the city.
He also expressed concern over the death of three cops in a day, saying the death of three cops in a short span of an hour had become a matter of concern for police department. Moreover, AIG Sindh said the meeting was convened in CPO office where all issues related to investigation and others were discussed and the strategy in this regard was going to be drafted to cope with the issues.
Earlier, the funeral prayers of ASI Raja Moin and PC Ayub were offered at Garden headquarters where AIG Akhter, DIG East Captain Tahir Naveed, SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam and others were present. The ASI Raja was laid to rest at Sohrab Goth graveyard while PC Ayub was buried at Muhammad Shah graveyard, North Karachi.
According to details, ASI Raja Moin 47, son of Abdul Razzak was targeted when he was sitting outside his house located in Ali Town near Super Highway in the limits of Sacchal police station. He played a major role in Karachi operation and used to work with Inspector Ahmed Hassan. He was a father of five from his two wives. Similarly, PC Ayub alias Chacha 57, was shot dead when he was returning home from Taimoria Police Station near peoples Chowrangi North Nazimabad.
