Punjab Women Department starts functioning

Irum Bukhari, a DMG Group officer of BS-20, has assumed the charge as the first Secretary of newly-created Punjab Women Development Department on Tuesday. The newly created department has started functioning at 129, Shadman-I, Lahore.
While presiding over a departmental meeting, Irum Bukhari said Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, who announced a comprehensive package of women empowerment on International Women's Day, has constituted a monitoring committee under his chairmanship to review its implementation status.
The members of Senate, National and provincial Assemblies as well as senior officers of the Punjab government will be the members of the committee, she added. She affirmed the faith of newly-established women development department and in the vision of Chief Minister regarding dignity and worth of the female population of the province. She expressed resolve to ensure active participation of women on equal terms in all spheres of social, political and economic life in the province.
