The rupee surrendered its overnight gains against dollar and euro in process of trading on Tuesday, dealers said. The rupee could not keep its supremacy over dollar, losing seven paisa for buying at 90.72 and shed six paisa for selling at 90.74, they said.
In the second Asian trade the US dollar hovered just below a seven-week high against a basket of currencies, bolstered by expectations that a string of encouraging economic news should persuade the US Federal Reserve not to apply fresh stimulus, at least for now. The yen bounced back from a 11-month low against the US currency after the Bank of Japan stopped short of taking aggressive easing steps, wrong footing yen bears who had bet on a repeat of the central bank's surprise easing last month.
Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar: 81.76-81.79 (previous 81.75-81.78) Call Money Rates: 11.00-14.00 percent (previous 07.00-14.00 percent). The yuan ended little changed against dollar after the People's Bank of China (PBOC) set a slightly stronger midpoint for the currency, forcing investors to reassess views on how much Beijing will allow the yuan to weaken. Spot yuan closed at 6.3270 against dollar, almost unchanged from Monday's close of 6.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar commenced trading at its day earlier closing of Rs 90.90 and Rs 91.10 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. In the absence of buying support, the dollar could not sustain and was declined to Rs 90.75 and Rs 91.00 on buying and selling side, respectively, the dealers said.
Similarly, the rupee showed stability and remained unchanged on buying side while it was appreciated on selling side against the pound sterling.
The pound was traded at Rs 141.50 and Rs 142.25 as compared to Monday closing of Rs 141.50 and Rs 142.50, respectively, they added.
The dollar opened at Rs 91 (buying) and Rs Rs 91.20 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any further change in the second session and closed at Rs 91 (buying) and Rs 91.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 142 (buying) and Rs 142.50 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 142 (buying) and Rs 142.50 (selling).
