NAB has been successful in recovering huge amounts ranging in million of rupees in various cases and about Rs 108 million have been recovered so far through the option of plea bargains during the first two months of the current year. NAB executive board approved these cases after thorough investigations based on merit, says a press release issued here on Friday.
The cases approved requests for peas bargain included Seth Nisar, businessman/ beneficiary of Rs 1,053 million, Muhammad Rahmim Khan former additional secretary KPK of Rs 24 million, Amir Zaman Shinwar, former superintending engineer Pak PWD of Rs 58 million and Chaudhary Abdul Rashid ex-chief engineer Pak PWD of Rs 6.5 million. NAB pivotal role as the premier anti-corruption institutions cannot be over emphasised. Apart from the task of prosecution, the important option of recovering the losses is the cases to the public exchequer the soul and hallmark of NAB.
Plea bargain is an effective and innovative tool to assist in swift recovery of the plundered money and to ensure that the proceeds are returned to the affected organisations, departments, banks and are deposited in the government treasury.
