Customs processes have been automated and are smoothly functioning under the indigenously developed WeBOC software at various terminals at Karachi port. In line with World Customs Organisation (WCO) theme "Borders Divide & Customs Connect" the Directorate General of Training & Research (Customs) has initiated interactive seminars and workshops to promote stake holders co-ordination in order to optimise Revenues & Facilitate trade.
In this connection a widely attended workshop on "Web Based One Customs and Cyber Security" was held on Tuesday 6th March, 2012 in the auditorium of Directorate General of Training & Research (Customs) Karachi interconnecting the Customs Officers, Port Trusts, Terminal Operators, Clearing/ Shipping Agents and Private sector organisations/ Multinationals. Ihsan Ali Shah, Deputy Director inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the importance of WeBOC and Cyber Security.
The presentations made by the resource persons were appreciated by the audience being very relevant to the new environment of Web Based One Customs Clearance followed by a thought provoking Q & A session. Focussing on the need for making WeBOC more user-friendly without compromising the system security Dr Jawwad Uwais Agha Director of Customs Training & Research gave his concluding remarks, assuring to hold more interactive workshops covering software module.-PR
