The most colourful and pleasant spring season is in full bloom after increase in day time and temperature and end of extreme cold weather in plain areas of the country. There has been 4 to 6 degrees Celsius increase in the day and night temperatures since February 28, 2012. Cold nights have become pleasant and day time temperature is not uncomfortable.
Usually, spring temperatures in the plain areas ranged from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius in the country and the people have glimpses of charming colours and fragrance of the spring season in the month of March. Different horticultural societies, educational institutions, government and private sector departments and individuals arrange flower shows to display flowers from their respective nurseries. The flowers put on display include roses, Acroclinium, Anchusa, Ageratum, Aster, Alyssum, Antirrhinum, Chrysan-themum, Calendula, Candytuft, Corn Flower, Cineraria, Clarkia, Dianthus, Dimorphotheca, English Daisy, Gazania, Godetia, Gypsophila, Gamolepis and Helichrysum. Larkspur, Linaria, Linum, Marigold and many others are also displayed.
Meanwhile, Met Office said that westerly wave is still affecting Upper parts of the country and likely to eastward during next 24 hours and may persist as a shallow trough over Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas during next 24-48 hours.
In its daily forecast, Met office said mainly cold weather is expected in most parts of the country today (Monday). However, rain with thunderstorm and snowfall over the hill is likely at isolated places of upper KPK (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu divisions), upper Punjab (Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sargodha divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
During the next two days mainly dry weather is expected in most part of the country. However, light rain with light snowfall over the hills may occur at isolated places of Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas, it added.
