Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has strongly refuted the allegation of receiving any funds from the ISI, terming it a propaganda to tarnish the party's image. JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, while addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Sunday, clarified that although in the relevant document the name of former Sindh chief minister Liaqat Jatoi was mentioned, some anchor persons were wrongly naming Liaqat Baloch.
He said the JI had already issued a contradiction in this respect but some media persons were intentionally spreading negative propaganda against the JI.
He regretted that despite having solid evidence against an organisation in Karachi, which he alleged was involved in extortion, the media was silent on the issue. He called upon the media high ups to issue a clarification about the false allegations against the JI.
Baloch said that the JI had already clarified its position regarding the ISI funds, before the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice had also appreciated it.
