The Karachi Port handled 115,964 tonnes of cargo comprising1 85,014 tonnes of import cargo and 30,950 tonnes of export cargo including 2,889 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 85,014 tonnes comprised of 23,494 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4 tonnes of general cargo; 34,516 tonnes of bulk cargo: 29,900 tonnes of coal; 1,685 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 2,311 tonnes of wheat; 920 tonnes of rock phosphate and 27,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,950 tonnes comprised of 13,467 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,483 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,623 tonnes of cement; 4,100 tonnes of iron and 11,760 tonnes of loose bulk cement. A cement carrier namely Sea Merchant sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz UASC Sharjah, Olivia, APL Brisbane, Topaz-II, Captain Adam, Aristea-M and African Eagle with three container ships, three bulk cargo ships and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Olivia, Star Sea Breeze, Tabernacle Prince and African Eagle with one container ship, one coal carrier, one cement carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely APL Brisbane, Angelica Schulte, Thien Quang 9 and Magnum Fortune with one container ship, one LSF oil tanker, one meal carrier and one coal carrier are expected to sail on Friday. Four vessels viz Rio Bravo, Emirates Kabir, Marika and Quetta with two container ships, one mogas carrier and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
A total number of three ships namely CV CGM Bellini, MV Maganari and MV Estia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours. As many as six ships namely MSC Reunion, Michaelas, APL Chile, Safmarine Ngami, Eurosea and Harsanadi with containers, furnace oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of four vessels viz APL Chile, Safmarine Ngami, Michaelas and Harsanadi carrying containers and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
