HRW wheat futures bids roll to May

Published Updated

US Plains hard red winter wheat basis bids were rolling to post against May futures on Wednesday with up to a 15-cent spread, merchants said. Country dealings were light and producers remained focused on fertilizing fields and dealing with sporadic wet and windy weather conditions in the Central Plains.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City jumped 5 cents a bushel for 12.00- through 12.80-pro wheat and rose 9 cents a bushel for 13.00- and 13.20 percent protein wheat. Wheat futures at the Kansas City Board of Trade ended higher on Tuesday with the March contract up 14-1/2 cents at $6.99-1/2 and the May contract up 16.
