Loadshedding to decrease in summer: MD Pepco

Published Updated

Managing Director (MD) Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) while reviewing the power situation in coming summer has directed Distribution Companies (Discos) to launch an effective campaign for recovery of receivables and keep the line losses at low.
He appreciated the commitment of the government in mitigating the load shedding in the country. Although demand of electricity increases in summer, it is expected that the severity of loadshedding will be far less this summer due to resolution of circular debt issue by the Ministry of Water and Power and Ministry of Finance on special directives of the Prime Minister, he added. It will facilitate uninterrupted fuel supply to IPPs ensuring the available generation capacity at the optimum level.
He further added that addition of generation capacity of over 3000 MW due to government's efforts will also contribute towards mitigating the power crisis. MD Pepco also stressed Discos and Gencos to improve their operational efficiencies so that the crisis does not aggravate.
