Some commodities recorded sharp to substantial price rise, others move gently

Wheat, imported gram, gram dal, Irri-6, Irri white broken and makai recorded sharp to substantial rise while other commodities moved gently during the week ended on February 25, 2012.
On the opening day wheat better type rose by Rs 45 to Rs 2740 while the low type retained at weekend level at Rs 2680, guwar Sindh and Punjab low type rose by Rs 150 to Rs 1650 while the other type rose by Rs 250 to Rs 1750, Irri-6 Sindh low type gained Rs 65 to Rs 3125 while the better type scaled higher by Rs 75 to Rs 3225, cottonseed oilcakes low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 550, while the other type ruled at Rs 700.
On Jodia Bazar plastic mouldings (per lb) HDPE film Saudia 952 yielded 50 paisa to Rs 77, TR 144 shed Rs 2.25 to Rs 75.50, HDPE blow Kuwait gained Rs 4 to Rs 82, and Marlex turned richer by Rs 6.25 to Rs 87, LDPE 374 lost 25 paisa to Rs 80.75, LLDPE W118 shed 75 paisa to Rs 74 and 7087 shed 50 paisa to Rs 74, polypropylene film Saudi Arabia lost 25 paisa to Rs 80 and India ended down by 50 paisa to Rs 80.25, polypropylene tape grade India lost Re 1 to Rs 76.50, Kuwait quoted at Rs 76.50 and Saudia shed Re 1 to Rs 76.50, polypropylene injection grade India quoted at Rs 79, ABS (per bag) polylac 7.7 quoted at Rs 6800.
On Tuesday grams prices were marked sharply higher, such as gram Australia No I rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 6200, while better type rose by Rs 550 to Rs 6900, gram dal Australia No I gained Rs 1400 to Rs 7300 and Rs 7500, gram 50x50 low type rose by Rs 300 to Rs 7100 while better one rose by Rs 200 to Rs 7300, yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 400 to Rs 4250 and Rs 4450, yellow peas dal Canada was higher by Rs 1000 to Rs 7450 and Rs 4950, yellow peas Ukraine gained Rs 350 to Rs 4600 and Rs 4800, moong Punjab low quality gained Rs 500 to Rs 7700 while the other type rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 8000, masoor Canada was registered at Rs 6000 and Rs 6200, and masoor dal rose by Rs 1000 to Rs 7000, cottonseed oilcake Sindh with bag rose by Rs 50 to Rs 600, while better type was put at Rs 700.
On Wednesday firmer condition prevailed with makai which gained Rs 125 to Rs 2500, Irri-9 Sindh low type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4200, while the other rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4300, Irri white broken rose by same amount to Rs 2400, til low type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 3380 while the other stayed unchanged at Rs 3500.
On Thursday Urad Burma low type was put at Rs 2500, while the other type was higher by Rs 200 to Rs 3000. Til low type gained Rs 100 to Rs 3300, while the other quality was put at Rs 3500, cottonseed oilcakes Sindh bag was unchanged at Rs 500, while the other type conceded Rs 100 to Rs 600.
Oon Friday. no change was seen in the rates as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.
On Saturday grams prices went up steeply amid rising fears of short supply in the coming days; grams Australia No 1 low type gained Rs 1400 to Rs 7600 and good type was higher by Rs 1000 to Rs 7900, grams Australia No 1 dal showed same pattern, gaining Rs 1700 to Rs 9000 and the best type rose by Rs 1800 to Rs 9300, grams 50x50 low type appreciated by Rs 1600 to Rs 8700 and good type was higher by Rs 1700, yellow peas Canada low type gained Rs 750 to Rs 4800 and the best quality was up by Rs 550 to Rs 5000, yellow peas Canada dal picked up Rs 550 to Rs 5300-5500, yellow peas Ukraine also gained Rs 500 to Rs 4600-4800 and yellow peas Ukraine dal picked up the same amount to Rs 5100-5300. Gur low type gained Rs 200 to Rs 3700 and best quality was up by Rs 300 to Rs 4800, guwar Sindh and Punjab both appreciated by Rs 1500 to Rs 18000-19000 due to higher demand amid shortage, they said. Cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh low type did not move any side and remained at Rs 500 while the good type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 700.
