Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 90,020 tonnes of cargo comprising1 62,541 tonnes of import cargo and 27,479 tonnes of export cargo including 4,131 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 62,541 tonnes comprised of 36,685 tonnes of containerised cargo; 136 tonnes of general cargo; 14,853 tonnes of bulk cargo and 10,867 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,479 tonnes comprised of 21,106 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29 tonnes of general cargo; 4,894 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. Two vessels are currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 35,710 tonnes includes 16,074 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,368 tonnes of palm oil; 7,803 tonnes of fertiliser and 6,486 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 44,197 tonnes includes 2,349 tonnes of rice; 505 tonnes of cement and 41,343 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV Hanjin Elizabeth and MV Florida-II sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami is expected to sail on Saturday morning. A total number of eight ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Hanjin Elizabeth, MV Florida-II, MV MSC Maria, MT Chem Road Vega, MT Athina, MV Arrilah and MV Lion are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, palm oil, rice, diesel oil and fertiliser respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Qubaa and Purbasari with furnace oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A chemicals carrier viz MT Purbasari is expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Saturday.
