US MIDDAY: spring wheat tumbles

US spring wheat futures tumbled to the lowest level in nearly 14 months on expectations for a bumper crop this year, while the price for December new-crop corn slumped to a one-month low on prospects for a record harvest. At 10:15 am CST (1615 GMT), Chicago Board of Trade March soft red winter wheat futures were down 6-3/4 cents at $6.35 a bushel.
MGEX March spring wheat dropped 10 cents to $7.91 a bushel. The front-month MGEX contract fell to $7.89, its lowest level since December 1, 2010, early in the trading session. CBOT March corn was down 3-1/2 cents at $6.36 a bushel. The new-crop December contract fell 7-3/4 cents lower at $5.51 a bushel to hit a one-month low.
