Senate elections: MQM, PML-F candidates withdraw nomination papers

Candidates of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) on Thursday withdrew their nominations papers that they had filed for the upcoming Senate elections. MQM's Kanwar Navid Jamil (general), Nasreen Jalil (general), Kanwar Khalid Younis (general), Mohammad Farogh Nasim (general), Arshad Abdullah (general and technocrats), Naila Munir (women) and Arif Masih (Non-Muslims) have submitted withdrawal letters to Provincial Election Commissioner.
Another MQM candidate, Poonjo, (minorities seat) will submit his withdrawal on Friday. After withdrawal of nomination papers by these candidates, now MQM has four candidates; Nasreen Jalil (women), Syed Mutafa Kamal (general), Colonel Syed Tahir Hussein Mashhadi (Retd) (general) and Farogh Nasim (technocrats), in the run.
PML-F's candidate on general seat Manghan Mangrio also withdrew his nomination paper. Now, PML-F's only candidate Syed Muzaffar Hussein Shah would contest Senate election on a general seat. When contacted, Provincial Election Commissioner Sono Khan Baloch told Business Recorder that MQM and PML-F's candidates withdrew their nomination papers on Thursday.
