International seminar on Rani Kot to be held this year: Malkani

The Sindh Minister for Tourism Mohammad Ali Malkani said that an international seminar on the Rani Kot would be conducted with the consultation and collaboration of the Sindh Cultural Department, Archaeological Department and World Heritage Organisations within its premises during this year.
He said that Rani Kot is an ancient great defensive architecture of Sindh and by virtue of its art and design it has unique status all over the world. This he observed while visiting Rani Kot today. The Provincial Secretary Tourism Syed Safdar Ali Shah and MD Tourism Manzoor Kanasro accompanied Sindh Minister.
He said that in this seminar the organisations working on world heritage, development of tourism, research on archaeological sites, UNESCO, experts, opinion leaders and historians would be invited to attend and submit their recommendations.
He said that the purpose of the seminar is to ascertain the archaeological as well as historical status of Rani Kot and also to look forward its tourism potential in Sindh. He said that a planning is being made by his department to identify and develop the sites which have tourism potential.
He said that in all over the world tourism is being practised as industry but, unfortunately, here in Pakistan due to lack of international development provision of standard facilities to tourists our tourism sector still is not able to generate revenue and foreign exchange or even to provide amusement facilities to locals.
He said that it is because of the blessings of 18th Amendment that today we the people of Sindh are made custodian of the archaeological and historical sites of Sindh. He said that his department has decided to conduct survey for development of the tourism resources under the public-private partnership.
He said that it is also decided that local people and opinion leaders would be taken on board, providing jobs and other income opportunities not only to ensure sustainable development of the tourism sector but also to help minimise unemployment.
