Sindh police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a midwife over the charge of dumping five female fetuses in a garbage drum on February 12. According to SHO Mehmoodabad, the arrest was made on the information of accused Hameed, detained on the identification of one of the eyewitnesses. He said that during initial course of investigation, the accused person revealed that he threw the premature bodies of girls on the directives of midwife, namely Nuzhat Aslam.
He said the detained woman informed police that a man, namely Iqbal is also behind this crime and added that police has taken Iqbal's son, Rizwan into custody to nab his father. Reacting on the information, the police party conducted raid at the midwife's clinic located in Chakara Goth, Korangi and arrested her. He further said the accused woman has confessed to have aborted several women and sell the offspring to various hospitals. Needless to mention, five female fetuses were recovered on February 12 from the garbage dump in Akhtar Colony's Sector E in the jurisdiction of Mehmoodabad police station.
