The wheat farmers should irrigate the standing crops as per need keeping in view the forecasted rains, the Met office advised on Monday. "Wheat crop is in heading/flowering development stages in the agriculture plains of the country," the office said in its 10-day farmers' advisory. The office also emphasised upon the growers to accelerate removing weeds with a view to save soil moisture and other nutrients from the wheat crops.
It forecast scattered rain with snowfall over the hills in Punjab and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa on February 21 and 22. Weather in Sindh and Balochistan during the next 10 days is expected to remain mainly dry, it added. It said rain/snowfall over the hills in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan was expected from February 21 to February 23.
