Five civilians were killed in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan's volatile Kandahar province, police said Sunday. Their vehicle bomb exploded as the vehicle carrying the five made its way through the Shahwali Kot district.
"All five civilians including a child were killed in the explosion," said istrict police chief Bacha Khan.
According to a United Nations report, more than 3,000 civilians, were killed in 2011, the majority of them by Taliban militants.
