The problems being faced by the University of Karachi are not insurmountable. This was stated by the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of `Chandi Hall' for the students of the Department of Microbiology, says a Karachi University statement on Sunday.
The `Chandi Hall' has been designed by Ms. Nargis Latif, Chief Trustee of a non-governmental organisation (NGO), and Gul Bahoo. It was prepared by utilising the technology with the help of waste material.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the research work undertaken by Ms. Nargis Latif, who is an alumnus of the University of Karachi.
He further stated that the University of Karachi is facing financial difficulties and for this special assistance is required from the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi, lauded the appointment of Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser as the Vice-Chancellor.
She said that he is well aware of the problems and challenges being confronted by the University of Karachi. The Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology, Ms. Nusrat Jamil, presented the welcome address.
