Transfer of land issue: LHC issues notice to DCO Bakkhar

Published Updated

The Lahore High Court issued notice to member colonies and District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Bakkhar for February 24 in a petition filed by Manzoor Ahmed challenging the action of the respondent officials for not transferring a piece of land in his name even after the court orders.
The petitioner contended that he had paid the official cost of the land but respondent officials were not transferring the land in his name. He, therefore, approached LHC against the officials. The court directed the respondent officials to transfer the land in the name of the petitioner. The officials did not implement the court orders and used delaying tactics to transfer the land in the name of the petitioner and exposed themselves for contempt of court proceedings.
The petitioner therefore approached the court in a contempt petition seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the respondent for not abiding the court orders. The court after hearing the petitioner counsel at length issued notices to the respondents and directed them to explain by February 24 as to why they did not abide by the court orders.
