Zakat-deserving people: Rs 392.31 million released as maintenance allowance

Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that an amount of Rs 392.31 million has been released under the head of maintenance allowance to the Zakat deserving people. While presiding over a meeting here on Saturday, the Minister said that the amount was released as bi-annually instalment for the financial year 2011-12.
Provincial Secretary Zakat and Ushr, Imran Nasir Khan, Administrator Zakat Punjab, Muhammad Yousuf Butt and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that released amount under the head of maintenance allowance has been disbursed among all district Zakat offices of the province.
The amount would be distributed at the rate of Rs 500 per month while 130,770 needy persons would be benefited from this facility. Malik Nadeem directed the district Zakat officers to ensure in time and transparent distribution of released amount. He, however, said that strict action would be taken against those who found responsible for negligence in this regard.
