Equities end in positive zone

Equities moved on both ways on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Friday and finally ended in positive zone amid ascending transaction volume on account of buying support in blue chips. The LSE-25 index was improved by 33.60 points and was ended at 3315.55 against 3281.95 of Thursday while trading turnover was also increased to 8.117 million as compared to 6.118 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market was opened on a positive sign and kept on moving up during the first trading session. The buying sentiments continued also in the second session but just ahead of closing of trading, the investors preferred offloading to pocket the available margin. As a result, PPL, Arif Habib Corporation, MCB Bank, Engro Polymer and Chemical, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, D.G. Khan Cement, Fauji Cement Dewan Salman Fibre, Dawood, Hercules Corporation, and Javed Omer Vohra and Company closed in the minus column. However, Engro Corporation, United Bank, National Bank, Habib Bank, Bank Alfalah, Adamjee Insurance, Attock Refinery, OGDC and Engro Foods, Lafarge Pakistan Cement and Nimir Industrial Chemical helped market closure in positive zone.
The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 104 active issues, 26 companies posted gains, 19 landed in minus column while 59 companies remained unchanged at their previous closing. Among gainers, Millat Tractors was improved by Rs 19.99, Pakistan Oil Fields was appreciated by Rs 6.57, Engro Corporation gained Rs 6.29 while United Bank and Adamjee Insurance were up by Rs 2.44 and Rs 2.37 respectively.
In the minus column, PPL lost Rs 1.80 while Arif Habib Corporation and MCB Bank were down by 87-paisa and 43-paisa respectively. Lafarge Pakistan Cement with trading of 3.514 million shares topped the volume leaders followed by Bank Alfalah with 926,496 shares.
