The Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran based at Quetta Seyed Hassan Yahyavi Tuesday said that Iran is ready to inject 1,000MW electricity to Pakistani transmission line through Taftan with immediate effect. Addressing a news conference at Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran Quetta, he emphasised the need to boost trade between Pakistan and Iran from US $1.5 billion to US $5 billion.
He said that Iran has constructed gas pipeline to supply natural gas to Pakistan and India and it is ready to start gas supply to them adding that now it depends on these two countries as and when they want to see the project operational. To a question, he said that Iran is ready to invest in the industrial and infrastructural sectors in Pakistani province of Balochistan.
He viewed that a joint summit of three countries-Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan-to be held next month will find out resolution to difficulties and problems being faced by war-torn Afghanistan. He said that measures are being taken to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran.
