The profit after tax of Allied Bank has increased to Rs 10.139 billion in the year ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 8.225 billion earned in the year 2010. The bank's earning per share has increased to Rs 11.79 in the period under review against Rs 9.56 in the same period a year back.
The board of directors of the bank in its meeting held on Tuesday recommended a final cash dividend for the year at Rs 2.50 per share ie 25 percent. This is in addition to the interim dividend already paid at Rs 2.50 per share ie 25 percent. The board also recommended issuing bonus share, by utilising residual balance of Rs 201,855,695 available in share premium account and remaining amount from un-appropriated profits of the bank, in the proportion of 10 shares for every one hundred shares held ie 10 percent.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the bank's mark-up/return/interest earning increased to Rs 51.814 billion in 2011 against Rs 44.992 billion in the year 2010. The bank's mark-up/return/interest expenses increased to Rs 26.643 billion against Rs 22.427 billion.
The bank's total non-mark-up/interest income increased to Rs 6.949 billion against Rs 5.671 billion while total non-mark-up/interest expenses increased to Rs 14.003 billion against Rs 11.810 billion. The bank's profit before taxation increased to Rs 15.108 billion in 2011 against Rs 12.343 billion in the year 2010.
