Secretary School Education Punjab, Muhammad Aslam Komboh, here on Sunday said that Education and Health Departments will work jointly to create awareness among the people about dengue virus. Education Department will distribute two crore pamphlets in this regard through students and teachers. In addition to that material regarding dengue virus and other academic diseases had been included in new text books.
He expressed these views while addressing a seminar on Awareness Campaign regarding Dengue Virus which was held with the collaboration of gender groups of education and health departments. Gender group coordinator of school education Rehana Anwar also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of women for the eradication of dengue virus.
Secretary School Education said that ten billion students and thousands of teachers will participate in awareness campaign about dengue virus and students and teachers of private school would also been included in this programme. He observed that it was encouraging that implementation on departmental directives regarding cleanliness of schools and spray in school premises was satisfactory in respect of public schools but the performance of private schools in this matter was not up to mark.
He said that performance of private and government schools as regard standard operating procedures would be monitored. He further stated that the compulsory question as regards dengue virus would be included in annual examination of schools and text books for the new educational year will have special lessons on dengue virus.
Muhammad Aslam Komboh confirmed that special walks for awareness of dengue virus would be arranged in all cities of the province and large number of teachers, students and members of civil society will participate. It is pertinent to mention that the people will also apprise of the importance of primary healthcare through such functions.
