Energy-saver bulbs to be distributed from April

Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar has directed on Thursday to launch Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) (energy saver bulbs) distribution programme from April throughout the country, says a press release. He said while presiding over a meeting on distribution plan of CFLs. The Secretary Ministry of Water and Power, CEOs of the discos, Programme Co-ordinator, senior officials of the ministry and representatives of KESC participated.
The minister said the 30 million CFLs will be distributed free of cost to non-defaulters domestic consumers in a transparent manner under national energy efficiency programme with the financial co-operation of Asian Development Bank and AFD of France. He asked the Project Co-ordinator of NTDC that further delay will not be allowed in this very important energy conservation plan. He asked the Discos to devise a transparent distribution and monitoring mechanism. A proper awareness campaign and plan of distribution must be started for the consumers.-PR
