Acting President, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Ziaul Haq Sarhadi said on Thursday that hundreds of truckloads of Afghan transit commercial cargo are stranded at the Torkham border and Takhta Baig check post, causing huge financial losses to traders.
In this connection, a SCCI delegation, led by President Afan Aziz, had held separate meetings with KP Governor Barrister Masood Kausar and the Frontier Corps (FC) commandant sometime back that resulted in the formation of a committee but in vain as no steps had yet been taken to solve the commercial cargo problem. Sarhadi expressed these views at a meeting between Frontier Customs Agents Group and Pak-Afghan transit traders held at the chamber.
SCCI Vice President Abid Salam, Imtiaz Ali, Tufail Gurwara, executive committee member, Sikandar, and Aamir Bilal, Ittehad Customs Service, and others attended the meeting. He said trucks loaded with commercial cargo were still stuck off and as a result traders had been suffering losses worth millions of rupees.
