Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 133,372 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,886 tonnes of import cargo and 30,486 tonnes of export cargo including 3,423 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 102,886 tonnes comprised of 21,651 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,955 tonnes of general cargo; 7,839 tonnes of bulk cargo: 885 tonnes of wheat; 6,954 tonnes of rock phosphate and 61,441 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,486 tonnes comprised of 25,535 tonnes of containerised cargo; 132 tonnes of general cargo; 4,819 tonnes of bulk cargo: 551 tonnes of cement; 1,472 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 2,796 tonnes of rice. Four ships namely Hyundai Colombo, President Truman, Stolt Orchid and Patriotic with two container ships, one tallow ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Nine vessels viz President Truman, Santa Balbina, MT Lahore, Patriotic, Dl Clover, Kong Que Song, Breeze Island, UBC Cyprus and Sea Merchant with two container ships, three oil tankers, two general cargo ships and two bulk cargo ships respectively are currently at the berths.
Two ships namely Santa Balbina and Kong Que Song with one container ship and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely MT Lahore with one crude oil tanker is expected to sail on Thursday.
Two vessels viz Argent Freesia and Cap Graham with one ethanol ship and one container ship respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while three vessels viz YM Fuzhou, Abtin-1 and Red Fin with two container ships and one coal carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
