The Karachi Port handled 70,044 tonnes of cargo comprising 53,165 tonnes of import cargo and 16,879 tonnes of export cargo including 2,412 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 53,165 tonnes comprised of 17,378 tonnes of containerised cargo; 307 tonnes of general cargo; 3,874 tonnes of rock phosphate and 31,606 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 16,879 tonnes comprised of 14,969 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15 tonnes of general cargo; 1,895 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,466 tonnes of cement and 429 tonnes of rice. Five ships namely Vira Bhum, MOL Bravery, Bunga Melate Satu, Purbasari and Le Cong with two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz Caribbean Sea, Stolt Orchid, Purbasari and Peace Traffic with one container ships, two oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Caribbean Sea and Stolt Orchid with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely Zuma with one LSF oil tanker is expected to sail on Wednesday. Six vessels viz President Truman, Santa Balbina, Dl Clover, UBC Cyprus, Breeze Island and Kong Que Song with two container ships, one ethanol ship, one cement carrier, one steel carrier and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while eight vessels viz UASC Showaikh, Emirates Wasl, Cap Graham, APL Brisbane, Abtin-1, Yaran Lodestar Genesis and Atgent Freesia with six container ships, one chemicals carrier and one ethanol ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
