A cop and a teenager girl on Saturday lost their lives when alleged bandits sprayed them with bullets to avoid arrests during a robbery bid in the jurisdiction of Sher Shah Police Station. According to police, an assistant sub-inspector and a 19-year-old girl were shot dead when unidentified bandits opened indiscriminate firing during police interception.
DIG West, Imran Yaqoob Minhas said ASI Rahimullah, 46, who was deployed at the said police station and was on his way to work when he was informed by the residents about the robbery being taken place at a steel shop located in Miran Naka. The officer reached the spot and tried to nab the dacoits.
The robbers opened indiscriminate firing to escape from the scene. Resultantly, the officer and a passer-by girl, namely, Rida Munir sustained fatal bullet wounds and succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Police said the victim Rahim was the father of seven and was living in Rasheedabad, Baldia Town. Minhas further said police has recovered a snatched bike from the scene. No case of the incident was registered till filing of this report.
