49 percent rise in futures open interest

Open interest position at the futures counter during the week ending on February 3, 2012 increased by Rs 739 million, up 49 percent, to Rs 2.2 billion. The futures spreads, on the other hand, declined by 64bps on week-on-week basis to 6.22 percent. Due to a dull activity in the regular market, volumes at the futures counter also declined by 52 percent on week-on-week basis to 7 million shares.
The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, holding 48 percent of the total open interest, were Engro, FFC, POL, NBP and PSO.
