A constitutional petition filed in Supreme Court on Friday urged the apex court to halt Senate election scheduled to be held in March this year. The petition was filed by a TV anchor through Barrister Syed Ali Zafar under Article 184 (3) of the Constitution, making the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) through its secretary and federation respondents.
The petitioner prayed the court to direct the ECP secretary not to hold Senate election scheduled to be held in March 2012, adding that as many as 70 incumbent parliamentarians, who would be voting in the election, did not possess a valid degree of graduation, thus they stood disqualified.
