Appointment of 42 teachers: LHC directs additional education secretary to produce record by February 23

The Lahore High Court here on Friday directed Additional Education Secretary Punjab to produce the record of appointment of 42 Arabic and Drawing teachers in T T Sing district by February 23. Petitioner Zahid Munir and others contended in their petition that the department had allowed the candidates holding degrees from Madras to submit their applications.
They had also their MA in different subject and hence become on merit. But the respondent later did not allow them to submit their applications. They therefore approached the court and the concerned officials assured the court to call the application again. They said respondent instead of calling applications again filled the vacancies. They therefore approached the court again in contempt petition. Earlier Additional Education Secretary appeared before the court and told the court that all the appointments were made on merit.
