Inspector General of Police Sindh, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, has asked the senior police officers to adopt measures to re-activate and strengthen District Human Rights Cells to ensure specialised handling of cases of HR violations particularly related to women and children.
Presiding over a meeting at Central Police Office (CPO) on Friday, he stressed that each HR Cell shall submit report on monthly basis giving out relevant data pertaining to complaints received, cases processed, relief provided and other relevant analysis.
"The HR Cell shall be made functional in the offices of Zonal DIGs Police (in Karachi) and DPO offices in districts. Suitable accommodation shall also be provided and a uniform standard be followed for layout plan of HR Cell", he emphasised. Mushtaq Shah spelled out the functions of HR Cell with the directives to establish special helpline/desk for women and children and collect/collate analysis and update data with respect to violence against women, bonded labour and children' rights.
