Woman among three killed in Karachi

At-least three persons including two women were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis, here on Thursday. According to police and rescue sources, a scrap dealer was shot dead in his house located in the slum area of Mehran Town in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area Police Station.
The incident took place early Thursday when at-least four armed men barged into his house situated in Sector 6-F, Mehran Town, and sprayed Qasim, son of Faiz Mohammad, with bullets. The victim received seven bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the deceased's family.
Later, the family members staged protest with the body in front of SP's office and demanded arrest of the culprits. They accused associates of a person Sultan Khoso for the murder, saying the victim was an eyewitness in Sultan Khoso Case who was arrested in December 2011. The protesters dispersed after the assurance of senior police officials to take the responsible to task.
Police said the victim used to run a scrap business in the same area where he resided and hailed from Mirpurkhas. They confirmed that the victim was eyewitness of the robbery committed by Khoso at a cattle-farm in the said area in December 2011. Police have registered FIR no. 78/12 against the culprits on the complaint of victim's cousin, Ghulam Mustafa, and initiated probe.
In another incident, a woman was shot dead in mysterious circumstances at her house located in Macchar Colony in the limits of Docks Police Station. The victim, Shazia, 25, wife of Yousuf Niazi, was hit by a bullet on her chest and was shifted to Civil Hospital here for medical treatment where she succumbed to her injuries. Police said the family members of the victim claimed that she received bullet while cleaning her husband's licensed pistol. They said the victim had married few months ago and hailed from Lucky Marwat, adding that her husband was driver by profession. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In yet another sad incident, strangulated body of a woman was found near from sector 7-A near Government Degree College in the precincts of Surjani Police Station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico legal formalities, where lady MLO reserved her post-mortem report. Later the body was moved to Edhi Morgue till identification.
SHO, Shabbir Hussain said the rope was wrapped in the victim's neck and she wore a 'burqa' at the time of murder. He furthered that the unidentified murderers threw the body in the said area and ran away. He said the victim might have been raped before murder but it is to be ascertained after post-mortem report. He said police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of the state.
