Man indicted on software copyright charge arrested

Federal prosecutors say a former Baltimore man has been arrested in the US after fleeing to Pakistan before he was indicted on a software copyright infringement charge. Thirty-one-year-old Naveed Sheikh was arrested Tuesday at Dulles Airport. He faces a detention hearing on Friday in Virginia.
According to the indictment, which was returned January 13, 2011, Sheikh infringed copyrights by reproducing and distributing more than 100 copyrighted commercial software programs. Prosecutors say he sold the programs through his website and had a post office box in Towson.
