THE RUPEE: dollar slips on interbank

Rates against dollar seen moving in narrow range on the currency market on Thursday, dealers said. The rupee gained four paisa both for buying and selling at 90.38 and 90.40, they said.
Reuters reports: yuan closed higher on Thursday, moving around key resistance at 6.30 against the dollar and looks set for a break of that level soon partly buoyed by a stronger mid-point fixing by the People's Bank of China, traders said.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar commenced trading at the Wednesday closing of Rs.90.45 and Rs.90.70 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. There was no visible change in the dollar's value during the day's trading. However, at the closing of trading, the dollar was ended at Rs.90.50 and Rs. 90.70 on buying and selling side, respectively.
Likewise, the rupee also remained under pressure and was declined against the pound sterling. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs.142.40 and Rs.142.90 as compared to overnight closing of Rs.141.70 and Rs.142.50, respectively, the dealers said.
The dollar opened at Rs 90 (buying) and Rs 90.20 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 90 (buying) and Rs 90.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 142 (buying) and Rs 142.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 142 (buying) and Rs 142.50 (selling).
