The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), accepting the long outstanding demand of the FPCCI, has relaxed the condition of providing NTN/CNIC number of the unregistered buyers/sellers in the monthly sales tax return submitted by the registered persons, said Shaikh Shakeel Ahmed Dhingra, Vice President FPCCI and Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Liaison with FBR, Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
Dhingra said the Finance Minister accepting the FPCCI demand has allowed the FBR to relax the condition for six months. Now the condition of NTN or CNIC of the unregistered buyers/sellers in the monthly sales tax return will be implemented from July 1, 2012 instead of January 1, 2012. The notification to this effect would be issued tomorrow (03-02-2012), he added.
He said the FPCCI, ever since the issuance of SRO 821(I)/2011 on September 06, 2011, under the leadership of Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, President FPCCI, has been collectively striving for relaxing the condition of mentioning NTN/CNIC number in the sales tax return submitted by registered persons, as it was practically not possible keeping in view the ground realities such as non-tax culture, low literacy rate, etc. Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, President FPCCI, Tariq Sayeed, leader of business community, S M Muneer and Iftikhar Ali Malik, Former Presidents FPCCI, Shaikh Shakeel Ahmed Dhingra, Vice President (Elect) & Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Liaison with the FBR, Mian Zahid Hussain, and Zubair F Tufail, hailed Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Finance Minister for accepting the demand of the business community.
