The United States will extend every possible help and support to overcome the problems being faced by Pakistan in various sectors especially the energy shortage. US Commercial consular Brian McCleary stated this while speaking at luncheon ceremony hosted in his honour by SAARC Chamber Vice-President and former President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry/Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Iftikhar Ali Malik.
He said that plans are under consideration to ensure free market access to Pakistani merchandise in US markets. He discussed issues to consolidate the trade relations between Pakistan and the United States.
He told the businessmen that US embassy is most willing to arrange B to B meetings for the businessmen who are planning to visit USA through a trade delegation being planned by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that US embassy would arrange important meeting in USA for the visiting delegates with the policy makers and also arrange meeting with Washington Chamber.
Speaking on the occasion, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that Pakistan wants peace and prosperity and more trade with USA and not aid. He said that USA must help and support Pakistan to solve their problem of energy and gas, etc, and provide accesses to the US market.
It was also highlighted that American franchisees may also be promoted
in Pakistan to attract more business and investment in Pakistan. It was resolved that Pakistan is very important country strategically located in this part of the world and peace and prosperity of Pakistan is a must for several neighbouring countries for which USA is going to play its part as world leader, he added.
A number of businessmen including Shahzada Alam Monno, Skindar Mustafa Khan, Mian Mohammad Ashraf, Mian Misbah ur Rehman, Shah Faisal, Azhar Majeed, Syed Yawar Ali, LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Senior Vice-President Kashif Younis Meher and Vice-President Saeeda Nazar were also present on the occasion.
