Tribal elders from South Waziristan have demanded government to establish a medical college in Federally Administrative Tribal Areas and called for taking action against those who were creating hurdles in the approved plan. Addressing a press conference, Malik Niaz Khan, an elder from South Waziristan said that the government had already approved construction of medical college in the Fata, but there are some elements involved to stop the plan.
Flanked by Malik Rabnawaz, Abdul Rehman, and Malik Khaliq Noor and other elders, he said that the former Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmad Ghani had sanction establishment of medical college, adding that the site had also been identified in Pir Kalia Pati Duor area of South Waziristan, and a report issued to Director Health Services in this regard.
He accused that there are some elected representative from Fata had opposed construction of college and creating hurdles in this regard. But, he said they will resist any such move. He said that elders are ready to provide land for the college free of cost; therefore the government should take initiative to start work on the approved medical college in South Waziristan. He demanded Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Masood Kausar to take prompt steps to build the college, otherwise, they will be compelled to launch movement against it.
