The Senate on Saturday deferred ''The Private Power and Infrastructure Board Bill, 2011'' till January 31, 2012 for further deliberation. The Bill was moved by Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar for establishment of the Private Power and Infrastructure Board. Senator Khurshid Ahmed of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) said that the Bill was not drafted keeping the 18th Amendment in mind.
He said that objectives of 18th Amendment were not taken into consideration before moving the bill. He said that there was need of improvement in the Bill. Ishaq Dar while supporting Khurshid''s point of view said that he was not opposing the bill but it would be better if it was deferred for further discussion and improvement. Senate Chairman Farooq H Naik deferred the Bill till January 31 for further deliberations.
