Alleged irregularities in OGDCL: National Assembly body to take up issue on February 1
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources would take up the issue of alleged irregularities in Oil and Gas Development Company, amounting to Rs 202.16 million in its meeting on February 1. The meeting will be chaired by Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai Chairman standing committee.
According to the agenda of the meeting the committee would discuss OGDCL's inquiry report on unnecessary purchase of chemical worth Rs 55.130 million (US $1.219 million) and loss of Rs 5.630 million on account of its sale below cost price. The committee would take up following important issues: Inquiry report on loss of Rs 10.108 million due to negligence of M/s Enar Petrotech Services in execution of the Kunnar LPG Project.
Inquiry Report on irregular hiring of services of a Consultant in violation of Board's decision worth Rs 280,000. Inquiry report on appointment of 22 officers without observing the formalities-Rs 65.132 Million; Inquiry report on loss due to procurement of defective man portable drill (shot hole) 30 meter worth Rs 49.683 million (702,302 euro). Inquiry reports irregular appointment of Executive Director, Human Resources, costing Rs 16.800 million. Inquiry reports irregular appointment of part-time consultant with open Term of Reference (ToR) and payment of remuneration worth Rs 4.826 million.
Besides, the NA body is to take up the procedure of the payment to the workers, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and Ministry of Labour and Manpower (now Human Resources Development) and details of procedure for keeping the money in bank. The parliamentary panel will also take up what is the mode of disbursement of interest money amongst the claimants of 5 percent profit? Again! Whether it is true that some officials of OGDCL kept money in the bank of their own choice (year 2004-06) for personal benefit? And reason for removing present Chairman of the Workers' Profit Fund during next meeting. The meeting would be briefed on OGDCL's officers working on acting basis at the senior petitions.
