The Karachi Port handled 61,634 tonnes of cargo comprising 27,349 tonnes of import cargo and 34,285 tonnes of export cargo including 4,692 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 27,349 tonnes comprised of 20,541 tonnes of containerised cargo; 990 tonnes of general cargo and 5,818 tonnes of bulk cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,285 tonnes comprised of 26,543 tonnes of containerised cargo; 148 tonnes of general cargo; 2,292 tonnes of bulk cargo and 5,302 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Hanjin Durban, APL Cyprine and Sioux Maiden with two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz APL Cyprine, Olivia and APL Brisbane with three container ships respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Olivia and Formosa Product Alpine with one container ship and one naphtha tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Admire Coral with general cargo ship is expected to sail on Friday.
Three vessels viz Maetiga, Chem Norma and Admire Coral with one mogas carrier, one chemicals carrier and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while eight vessels viz YM Fuzhou, Al-Mirqab, Tessa, APL Chicago, OOCL Busan, Kota Anggerik, MT Lahore and Chemway Caia with six container ships, one crude oil tanker and one ethanol ship respectively due to arrive on Friday.
As many as two ships with containers ship and LPG tanker respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of six vessels viz CV Safmarine Nagomi, CV Saigon Express, MT Shanghai, MT Fair Spirit and MT Long Champ carrying containers, phosphoric acid, furnace oil and LPG are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and SSGC Terminal respectively on Thursday. A rice carrier MV Liberty Sun is due to arrive on Friday at Port Qasim.
