Due to timely decision of Collectorates of Paccs, P.I.C.T. management and efforts of Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA), the backlog of container which was risking choking of ports has been eliminated to a comfortable level, said Faisal Mushtaq General Secretary KCAA.
He further said that Amir Ahmed Collector Paccs, Additional Collector Adnan Akram and Shahab Imam Dc at PICT along with management of PICT CEO Zafar Iqbal Awan and Safdar Abbas have played a tremendous role in this regard. PICT had abolished holidays of Saturday and Sunday and Customs Examiners were working day and night making it possible to bring backlog from 940 containers to 110 containers. The reason for accumulating for such a big backlog was EMS of Weboc and marking of more examination from yellow area. Now the Collecotorate and Board have taken certain steps to reduce the marking of examination containers. Mushtaq further said that in coming days to avoid the rehappening of this event scanner which are already installed at port should be utilised.
Regarding certain changes in Weboc administrative and software of Weboc, he reiterated that the decisions were still pending and better result could be achieved in real sense of automation, which could have a positive impact on trade and industry. He further said that he was thankful to the media for highlighting the issue as and when required for the facilitation of trade and industry service provider.-PR
